KUCHING: Some 22 bikers from Peninsular Malaysia, Germany, Belgium and Taiwan will journey through the Pan Borneo Highway to discover some of the interesting places in Borneo.

The bikers are led by FS Adventure, a Malaysian motorcycle tour company while Pin Sing Travel and Tours Sdn Bhd, a local tour operator here, is the professional ground handler and logistic partner of this adventure rally that will cover a total distance of about 3,000 kilometres including some off-road riding sectors.

Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg, who is an avid biker himself, flagged off the bikers as they embarked on the first day of their 10-day adventure rally this morning.

The bikers will discover Sarawak in the first half of the tour, experiencing the diverse culture, food and nature that abounds in this beautiful home of adventure.

They will make daily stop in Sibu, Miri and restive Merarap Hot Springs Lodge in Lawas before proceeding to Keningau, Tawau, Sandakan, Kinabalu Park, Kudat and Kota Kinbalu in Sabah.

The tour is led by BMW GS Trophy marshal and biker Faizal Sukree, who is also a certified BMW Motorrad International tour guide and instructor.

Earlier, at a breakfast with the bikers at Magenta Restaurant at Kuching Waterfront, Abang Johari welcomed the bikers to Sarawak, saying that the hot weather in Borneo will be a good experience for the bikers from Europe.

He hoped through their journey, the bikers will be able to see what the government has done in building infrastructure for the benefit of the people such as the Pan Borneo Highway as well as the coastal highway.

Both highways, he said, would give the bikers a very good scenery along their adventure rally.

“I also hope that you will get the skills and wisdom together as you ride your bike from Kuching right up to the other parts of your destinations.

“I wish all the riders a very good and exciting journey,” he said.
