KUCHING: Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg yesterday refrained from responding to queries on the formation of the new federal Perikatan Nasional (PN) cabinet.

The Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) chairman was asked if the PN cabinet lineup would include MPs from GPS.

Abang Johari insisted that he has not yet spoken to the Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyddin Yassin on the composition of the new federal cabinet. “No. When did I go to Kuala Lumpur?” he said when asked if he had made requests to include GPS MPs in  Muhyddin’s cabinet.

He was met after the opening of the Songket and Keringkam Gallery at Jalan Masjid here.

However, he reminded the press that Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) in which he is the president, will hold a meeting at its headquarters in Jalan Bako here today (March 6, Saturday).

GPS is not part of PN but pledged its allegiance to Muhyddin as the Prime Minister. “Please wait. I will be chairing a PBB meeting tomorrow (Saturday).”

Speculations are rife that a discussion on the federal cabinet composition would be in the agenda of the meeting.
