Abang Johari, wife visit fire victim

KUCHING: Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg and wife Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tuanku Bujang yesterday visited Datuk Yetni Adenan, a well-known comedian in Sarawak whose house in Kampung Semerah Padi was gutted last month.

Accompanying them during the visit were Petra Jaya MP Datuk Seri Fadilah Yusof, Assistant Minister of Law, State-Federal Relations and Project Monitoring Sharifah Hasidah Syeed Aman Ghazali who is also  Semariang assemblywoman.

Abang Johari and his entourage spent about 30 minutes with Yetni and presented his personal contribution to the fire victim who had contributed immensely to society as well as the state.

The Chief Minister added that the assistance that will be given to the victim include building a house on the site of the gutted house.

“I visited him and his family who were affected following the mishap, and we as elected representatives will assist especially in providing them with a comfortable home. I have instructed an architect to look into a suitable and comfortable house for him and his family.

“He has contributed a lot to the state, including the ‘Jiran Sekampung’ (a segment in RTM) and many others,” he told reporters.

His house was razed at about 9.30pm on Christmas Eve last year.

Yetni who was formerly Kampung Semariang Baru Phase Two chiefand four other family members survived the fire incident.

During the visit, Assistant Minister in the Chief Minister’s Office (Rural Electricity) Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi’s wife Datin Siti Shorgayah Mohd Zaidin who represented the Association of Wives of Ministers and Assistant Ministers of Sarawak (Sabati) presented their contribution to Yetni.
