KUCHING: Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg said today that the first phase of state Water Grid project will commence in October this year.

“We will start laying the pipeline from Batang Ai to Tanjong Manis this October,” he said when launching the Sarawak Career and Training (SCaT) Fair 2018 at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching here.

Abang Johari first announced the state Water Grid project before the Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) convention early this year.

He said at least RM8 billion would be required to implement the first phase of the comprehensive water supply project to reach out to residents of longhouses and villages across the state.
