Abang Johari turns 70

KUCHING (Aug 4): Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg today marked his 70th birthday with the cutting of a cake at Wisma Bapa Malaysia.

The ceremony was attended by his wife, Datuk Amar Jumaani Tuanku Bujang, members of the state cabinet, assistant ministers, and heads of state and federal departments

The simple event organised by members of the Sarawak civil service began with a prayer followed by the cutting of the birthday cake.

State secretary Datuk Amar Jaul Samion said at the event that it was a privilege to have the opportunity to serve under the leadership of Abang Johari who had brought progress and development to the people.

He said the civil service would continue to pursue the chief minister’s aspirations for the state diligently to ensure that the people gets the best out of the state administration.

Also present at the ceremony were Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, Local Government and Housing Minister Dato Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian; Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah; Assistant Minister in the Chief Minister’s Department (Law, State-Federal Relations and Project Monitoring) Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali and Assistant Minister in Corporate Affairs Abdullah Saidol.
